An exploration of smoke and color in the beautiful Alvord Desert in Oregon. Located south of the Steens mountain range, the Alvord is a 12-by-7-mile dry lake bed, a fantastic place to camp, explore, and embrace your inner artist.
The college class assignment was to explore themes of unpredictability, supernatural ability or impossible acts.
The one effect that came out perhaps too well was when I open the door quickly and peer into the scene. The door was shot at my old house, and we stitched it into the wall of our modern art facility building using After Effects. The problem is it that we didn't make the old wooden door appear distinct enough, and the shock of the effect was lost.
I think the video is successful at using clever angles, perspective and continual motion.
