Waterline Media presents a short film for the Drake 5 minutes of Fly Fishing in New Orleans in August, 2011. Filmed over the course of an entire tarpon season from the lower Keys to the Panhandle, Riding High shows the entire migration from the viewpoint of those that chase this amazing fish every year.
worldangling.com "Clearly a Tarpon is the most exciting fish to catch on fly, but, I'll tell you, this Permit fishing game is a total obsession...you never seem to be happy until the next time you catch one!" Anyone who has fly fished for these amazing fish knows exactly what I'm talking about. But, maybe I should have added, "and you've never been more upset than when you loose a big one next to the boat!" I suppose that could apply to just about any fish anywhere which is the real beauty of Connected. In 2008 we brought the raw, adrenaline pumping action that typifies saltwater fly fishing here in the Keys to life for the audience at the annual Drake Magazine Video Awards. Everyone who's ever watched Connected, understood the emotion behind the f-bombs being dropped by Capt. Bill Houze as he lost a giant permit next to the boat. We showcased some amazing Permit footage and walked away with the "Best Fishing" Award.
worldangling.com Early in 2010 an eerie drama was unfolding in South Florida. The winter had brought record low temperatures, worrisome fish kills, and questions about the the future. Uncertainty and nervousness consumed many connected to the ocean. When Spring finally emerged, things were still strange. By April, we were at a tipping point. The ominous threat of the Deepwater Horizon disaster was creeping closer and closer. Everything was on the edge. It felt as if a threat from another world was bearing down. We were being invaded… Then, out of the chaos and confusion came hope-- carried by silver beings…lots of them.
