This is an animated film shot digitally in High Definition using marionettes, painted scenery, and found objects. It was made to accompany a song that I recorded for my CD "Diabolical Liberties". The sets and characters were made by myself; the camera work was by my friends Flora and Sue, and the footage was edited by another friend called Rolf. This film is partly intended as a homage to Ingmar Bergman, and makes a few references to his film "The Seventh Seal". I am very fond of early animation, especially those from eastern Europe (e.g. Wladeslaw Starewicz), so I intended that the feel of this would be fairly primitive and crude in a similar vein.
Footage by W.S. Schweers, with additional footage and photography by Jennifer Baron
Filmed in The Forest Glen, outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
With: Jennifer Baron, Lucy Blehar, Nicole Czapinski and Ulysses Schweers
We recently caught up with indie rock godfather Jowe Head who was a member of seminal UK indie acts Swell Maps and Television Personalities as well as several great solo projects. His stage name is derived from Birmingham slang for "Weirdo" but he's one of the friendliest talkative gentlemen you could hope to meet as you'll see in our quick chat about touring, mornings and the afterlife.
