  2. Real time generated graphics for two large-scale multi-projector set-ups.

When a big company like the OMV hosts employee events, thousands of people gather to be informed, wowed and entertained. Vienna based event agency Erlebnismarketing approached Strukt to create real time generated graphics built out of photographs of all attendees. Their pictures were taken on site and just shortly before they had to be displayed.

Despite of the challenge to create a workflow to feed the VVVV patch with thousands of photographs within less than half an hour, also the technical set-up was something Strukt has not encountered up to that event.

The first event in March 2011 was equipped with a 84 meter wide screen using 8 projectors to display 15360 (Minus some overlap fore edge-blending) by 1080 pixels. Strukt used a VVVV-boygroup Set-up of 2 output PCs and 1 control PC to generate a fluid real time animation of a particle and picture universe. Additionally, during the first event, guests were able to sign a digital guestbook. Their messages were shown live on the screens and kept also in an analog way.

The second event in June 2011 took everything to a higher level. 42 HD projectors were used as tandems (so 2 projectors for every segment of the screen) to fill a 245 meter wide screen. The VVVV-boygroup set-up had to grow adequately and so Strukt used 6 PCs to play back the real time animated photo mosaic and one PC as a control server. With a total width of over 40.000 pixels this definitely set a record in Austria up to this point.

  3. Nespresso presented their newest, eco-friendliest and most attractive coffee maker machine, the "Pixie", in Vienna. Strukt was asked by event agency Ideal to develop a stage show together wit the Phoenix Fire Dancers. During the performances projections on artists and six massive pillars created a magical stage experience. The show was about 15 minutes long and presented the Pixie's design and technical innovations as well as the story of a coffee bean growing and ending up in your cup.

For this event Strukt applied three different techniques for projecting onto and interacting with the artists on stage. "Projection Mapping" - for the geometric forms (pillars and cubes) on stage, "Projection Masking" to project soley onto the performing artists with no spill onto the stage and "Object Tracking" to follow the moving artists and keep projection content sticking to their bodies. This was realized using 4 projectors, 8 high-performance infrared spots and 1 infrared camera.

  5. When the Vienna Tourism Board promotes its city as a travel destination in foreign countries, they always put a spin on their presentation. Hoping to achieve a certain broadcast and social media buzz, they asked Strukt via Jung von Matt/Donau to realize an interactive dancefloor. The visitors in a shopping mall should get a chance to learn how to dance the Viennese Waltz, so that they are prepared when they decide to travel to Vienna. Because you never know, when a charming Viennese person asks you for a dance.

Using an LED floor (deliviered by a local partner in Barcelona) and cutting edge tracking technology provided by this.play out of Vienna, Strukt created two self explanatory game modes. First people were able to learn the waltz in a training session step by step. Once they completed the training session, they then were invited to enter the score mode – “Waltz Hero”. The goal was to dance along a predefined path in the right speed to achieve the maximum score. There were three levels of excellence a couple could achieve – being a debutant, an advanced dancer or a true Waltz Hero. People were invited to post pictures and videos of the promotion online to get a chance to win a trip to Vienna.
