1. Joe is one of the many pioneer faces of Questa, New Mexico, where we'll be shooting Baby Lu. Joe is a self-described "whistle blower" who helped lead the town against powerful mining corporations that threatened local drinking water. He is the inspiration for the character Joe Mondragon in John Nichols' novel "The Milagro Beanfield War," a story about a small farmer battling a corrupt developer and crooked politicians in a New Mexico village that was adapted for the screen by Robert Redford.

    Including locals like Joe in Baby Lu is essential to the authenticity of our film. Thanks so much Jody for takin the time!

    Brief Synopsis:
    Baby Lu is a queer coming of age story set in the tiny outskirt towns of Taos, New Mexico. Lucinda, a thirteen year old girl, is growing up under a well intentioned but unequipped single mountain man father. When an intriguing new woman arrives in their small New Mexican town, the two of them must grapple with new emotions and the confusion of Lucinda’s burgeoning sexuality.
