My buddy Mike & I both purchased Canon 7D's around the same time that a friend of mine had come to us with a story idea for a short. Wanting to see how the 7D's would perform, we both jumped on board.
We shot "Dating Material" using two Canon 7D's at 1080p24, along with a few lenses: 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, 50mm f/1.4, 24-70mm f/2.8L, 70-200mm f/2.8L IS. We lit the movie with a standard 3-piece Omni/Tota kit and several Sony 20W hotshoe video lights. It was great to see how these cameras worked in low-light, and to see the limits of color correction with the footage.
It was also a great learning experience not only from the production aspects but also from the special effects aspects. Special thanks goes to David O'Connell and Michael Burnett (http://www.mbpfx.com) for their excellent make-up work!
The short is definitely not perfect, but I am pleased with the way it turned out under the constraints of our production schedule.
