1. Tame All...
This little guy I know by his eyes. I have hummingbird feeders with a flat back side with a suction cup to affix it to a window. The sunlight makes the glass reflective, so the bird eats right up at the window, and an observer can get about 3" from the glass and watch. Hummingbirds have different looks in their eyes. If they pick your home as their summer home, you can tell them apart from their eyes, their noises and flight styles, and how they eat/protect the food source...

I saw this guy sitting on a rock in my garden, waiting for more aggressive couples to leave, but eager to eat before dark. I didn't know if it was alive, even though standing, because it was dead still.

I put my finger out to touch it's stomach, and it climbed onto my finger. I stood up and it flew to my shoulder, about 40 feet from the house.... I walked to the house, inside, tried one camera, didn't work, grabbed the iphone with one hand, guarded the bird from falling with the other, walked outside right before dusk, started the iphone camera with one hand and took this footage.

At the end of this clip, my hand fills the frame, as I was switching the iPhone camera from video to still.... the hummer stayed on my finger and just as I brought the perched bird into frame for some stills, it flied away and got to the feeder just in time.

I was shooting with the camera "reverse mode" and paying attention to keeping the bird in the frame..
