Using a drill, Shelton transformed Bell Irvin Wiley’s "Embattled Confederates: An Illustrated History of Southerners at War" (Harper & Row, 1964) and then photographed the fragments. Here he talks about his inspiration and the reckless purpose he found in the process.
From the early days of his childhood in Virginia, Brent Feito had a strong interested in history. He became involved in Civil War reenacting at age nine, which has had a lasting effect on his life. The hands on nature of learning and experiencing history through reenactment inspired him to pursue a degree in history with the hopes of a career in the field. Brent now works as a film producer and researcher, specializing in historical film.
