1. Edwina Sandys ART
    Released: October 6, 2011
    ISBN: 9780982379998/ Suggested Retail $75.00

Edwina Sandys has an immense reputation as artist and feminist, and has been working for more than forty years in the arenas of sculpture, painting, collage, drawing and printing. Sandys' art is at once, playful, witty, and profound-her artwork is also deeply poetic and constantly challenging convention. The artistic appeal of Edwina Sandys lies in her diverse subject matter.

From the sacred to the secular, to the most essential questions about politics and society, she has tackled grand ideas with panache, combining the lighthearted and the profound, at once whimsical and mind provoking. Hands are a reoccurring motif in her work, as is a constant return to the diametrical opposites of substance and void. In Adam and Eve, for example, hands are cut out to cover "shameful" body parts, yet the hands don't really exist; instead they are void spaces on silhouettes. Sandys' artistic palette is also refreshingly full of vibrant hues such as cherry-red and apple-green. Her clearly recognizable style uses positive and negative images to powerful effect. Seminal works include The Marriage Bed and Christa, the first representation of Christ as a woman created in 1975 as a bronze statue.

After being on display in numerous churches, Christa was installed at Easter 1984 in New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Sandys is also the granddaughter of Sir Winston Churchill. The book is rounded out with wonderful photographs of her life that illustrate her famous ancestry. This book is the first and only collection of her visionary and artistic endeavors spanning over four decades.

Edwina Sandys is primarily known as a painter and sculptor, although her work is wide-ranging in use of media and styles. The media coverage surrounding Christa created a worldwide furor and she experienced the double-edged sword of public debate, as both praise and outrage flooded in. Her work is in the collections of individuals and many public and private institutions including the United Nations, the Brooklyn Museum; Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri (where Winston Churchill gave his historic "Iron Curtain" speech); US Embassy Residence, Dublin, Ireland; Roosevelt Library, Hyde Park, NY. Solo Shows since 1971 include: Crane Kalman Gallery, London; Origin Gallery, Dublin; Coe Kerr Gallery, NYC; Egizio's Project, NYC; Museum of Palm Springs, Co; Washington Gallery, DC; Everson Museum of Art; Hofstra University, NY; Rochester Museum, NY; New York Academy of Sciences,; National Museum Women in the Arts, DC; Yaneff Gallery, Toronto; Galleria del'Obelisco, Rome; Masterworks, National Gallery of Bermuda, Ann Norton Sculpture Garden, West Palm Beach, FL, Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, FL; Chelsea Art Museum, New York. Permanent collections include: Tate Gallery, Brooklyn Museum, Ronald Reagan Library. Edwina Sandys was born and raised in London but has been living in New York City for about twenty years. She also has a home in Hudson, NY and is a frequent visitor to Palm Beach, FL, where she previously had a home. Caroline Seebohm is a prolific author and writer on art and design. Anthony-Haden Guest, author, is a frequent contributor to major magazines such as Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, Paris Review, Sunday Times, and Radar.

Sir Roland Penrose is the Surrealist painter and influential art critic (1900-1984) best-known for his exhibitions and books on the work of his friends Picasso, Ernst, Miró, Man Ray, and Tàpies.

  3. Bullfight: The Pas de Deux
    Released: January 16, 2012
    ISBN: 9780983270218/ Suggested Retail $60.00
The unrivalled drama of bullfighting, with its rigorous combination of athleticism and artistry, and its requisite display of grace under pressure, ignited Hemingway's imagination and inspired him to write his classic work on the subject, "Death in the Afternoon." That same inspiration has taken hold of photographer Ricardo B. Sanchez to create the most unique and elegant record of what is and has always been one of the most controversial "sports" practiced by man. Some contend that bullfighting remains one of the most artful and sophisticated means by which some cultures celebrate the bravery of the hunter.

    This ancient ritual illustrates the
complex relationship between predator and prey, and between culture and nature. Here, Sanchez's vividly arresting artworks and text reflect this exquisite "pas de deux," where the bull and the bullfighter trace the lines and forms of their existence with each pass. The accompanying texts by both author and art critic provide what the steps of the bullfight represent as metaphors of our broader relationships between nature and humans. Here is a distinctively beautiful and enlightened visual and intellectual study of the intersection of tradition, culture,
art, and nature in this ancient rite that is so exquisitely and intricately recorded that one can actually see why by so many it is so revered as an artform: it truly is a ballet's pas de deux.

  4. Beloved Spirit
    Released: September 11, 2011
    ISBN: 9780982379967/ Suggested List $35.00
While mankind continues to struggle with adversity, an amazing spirit of forgiveness continues to persevere in this increasingly complex and unpredictable world. Inspired by a modest prayer to provide comfort to those suffering from the tragedies of 9/11, Alexandra Villard de Borchgrave first wrote Healing Light: Thirty Messages of Love, Hope, and Courage, and continued her poetic musings in Heavenly Order: Twenty Five Meditations of Wisdom and Harmony. Beloved Spirit: Pathways to Love, Grace and Mercy is the highly anticipated final volume to her trilogy of acclaimed poems; which will publish on the Ten-Year Anniversary of 9/11. These poems offer solace and words filled with clairvoyant guidance. Poems unfold in the book in alignment with times of the day— which also, astutely, symbolize the various stages of life—Before Dawn; Daybreak; Midday; Sunset; Twilight; Moonrise; Night, and Midnight.

Artfully combined with gorgeous rare and mostly unseen sixteenth-century Persian images, Beloved Spirit, reflects upon the hidden harmonies of the world's creation and the flawless beauty of the infinite universe. The stunning paintings rendered by the finest artists of the day were inspired by the Haft awrang (Seven Thrones) manuscript by the renowned fifteenth-century mystic poet Abdul-Rahman Jami and commissioned by Prince Sultan Ibrahim Mirza (1540--77). And each of the paintings shown in detail as accompaniment to the poems are featured in full-frame as a resource appendix, allowing unprecedented access to artwork contained in the prestigious Freer Gallery of Art Collection at the Smithsonian Institution.

    ISBN: 9780982266908/ Suggested List $75.00

In the 80s, a time before Photoshop and plastic surgeons offered picture perfect complexions, masking even the slightest imperfections, Johnny Rozsa captured the flawless features of Hollywood's fresh crop of celebrity beauty. Rozsa recorded the pristine beauty and the exuberance of 115 stars before they were famous, and shows us what they were like before they began following the plan for eternal youth, an elixir of Botox, surgical procedures, and editorial support in the form of computer generated beauty. From Hugh Grant to Halle Berry, Janet Jackson to Nicholas Cage, John Malkovich to Natasha Richardson, with a special section dedicated the legendary Leigh Bowery, UNTOUCHED, Rozsa's first monograph, captures the era's most enduring icons at a time where ingénues rubbed shoulders with luminaries like Charlton Heston, Jane Russell, Joan Collins, Dolly Parton, and Tina Turner.
