Huge flocks of waders, mainly Knots, over the Wash at sunrise: a wildlife spectacle. The Wash is one of the largest estuaries in the United Kingdom. At low tide a big part of the Wash turns into mud, at high tide the rising water pushes thousands of feeding waders to shore. sijmenhendriks.eu. Tens of thousands of Cranes make a stopover each autumn at the Diepholzer Moorniederung in Germany. Cranes migrate from their Scandinavian, Polish, Baltic and Russian breeding grounds in stages to their wintering areas in Spain and France. The Diepholzer Moorniederung consists of several raised bogs where the Cranes sleep in collective roosts. The Cranes forage during the day in the surrounding fields.
Dolers, dolers.com, is the name Dutch artist Olivier Rijcken gives to the labyrint-like patterns he makes in different materials and different sizes. Dolers represent the connectedness of things, finding your way in the world, and transformation. This doler was made on september 6, 2013 during Kunsteiland Zaandam.
