Tacking on light winds on a nice Sunday afternoon. Hanse 355 is fairly heavy, close to 7T in this configuration but she still moves between 4-5 knots around 45-50 TWA. She would stand no chance agains really fast boats in her class but as a cruiser she is good value for money in this regard as well. Gennaker is ready to be hoisted.
Ship passing us is the Vision of the Seas from Royal Caribbean on the way to St Petersburg, Russia.
S/Y Lee (Hanse 355) tacking towards east in perfect wind conditions (Winds E, 12-14 knots true) west of Kytö, approximately 10 nm SW of Helsinki. Fantastic sailing, you could trim everything to absolute max power & enjoy good upwind speeds in these conditions!
Another (motoring) sailboat drifted straight into our path being already well out of the shortest route you might imagine a motoring sailor would choose. Everything went by the book and we became vessel overtaking so we had to give way then but in practice it would have been polite for them to stay leeward to us and keep well clear while motoring.
