  5. 2011 was an epic year of river rafting trips in Utah's Cataract Canyon. There have been years when the spring melt-off has peaked at over 110,000 cubic feet per second, but 2011 is on record for staying "high" (above 40,000 cfs) for the longest high-water season on record, with a peak flow just under 90,000 cfs. While many in the area were having to cancel trips because of high water, Western River guests came in record numbers to Utah's Cataract Canyon. The longevity of our guides' experience navigating high water Cataract Canyon on boats designed specifically for handling big water and waves are to be recognized for a sucessful and fun whitewater season. Hats off to all our 2011 guests for making what was easily the largest whitewater in North America look easy and most of all, FUN!!
