SESAME STREET DREAMS OF DANCING IS ONE OF MANY ATMOSPHERE SHOWS THAT RAN DURING THE YEAR OF DREAMS AT UNIVERSAL STUDIOS JAPAN. CREATED AROUND THE THEME ALL OF THE ATMOSPHERE SHOW DEPICTED A DREAM COME TRUE. IN THIS CASE IT'S BIG BIRD FINALLY LEARNING TO DANCE. THE SHOW WAS DIRECTED, WRITTEN AND CHOREOGRAPHED BY SEAN JACKSON, WHILE HE WAS AT UNIVERSAL STUDIOS JAPAN AS SR. SHOW DIRECTOR/CREATIVE DIRECTOR ATMOSPHERE ENTERTAINMENT FOR UNIVERSAL. SOMETHING ESPECIALLY UNIQUE ABOUT THIS SHOW IS THAT IT RAN FOR MORE THAN TWO YEARS WHEN THE NORM FOR USJ ATMOSPHERE SHOWS IS ONE SUMMER SEASON OR A SUMMER INTO THE HOLIDAYS AND THEN ALL NEW SHOWS.
This a live performance created specifically for this event. It was presented at an annual summer festival known as Kid Fest, entry into the theater was free and was viewed throughout the day by more than 8 thousand people and in two days more than 17 thousand in total. A narrative created by Melissa Wackerman, (Producer) Sean Jackson (book, director, staging) and Carolyn Gardner (book) with the assistance of David Underwood, (choreography) Bret Simmons, (music) and Audio by the bay, John Wackerman, Bob Wackerman, Paul Freeman, (audio post and procurement) Rene Sanchez, (stage manager) Ginny Kipfstuhl (scenic), Bill Avzveridel, (technical director) and Jackie Tregal-Collins, (production manager). It was performed just after the movie release and was aimed at driving attendance to Disneyland Park where a large scale Parade with the same theme was being performed throughout the summer. The group of Chinese acrobats were pulled from either their days off and Grace Ishiki, Erica Doi, Michelle Yang, Lyndon Gryiarte, Michael McKindrick were diverted from the parade for four days in order to rehears and perform this show.
This is a live show that was performed at the culmination of the days events and walk. It was directed and choreographed by Sean Jackson, additional choreography and assistance by Linda Love Simmons, and Producer Sayre Wiseman for the Disneyland Resort. Taking place in Costa Mesa California this was and continues to be an annual event although the location is now Disneyland Resort. This character show was created for the family audience and performed over a half dozen times with various configurations.
