State of the State RI

Guests: Ken Block, lineitemveto.org and Edward O’Neill, sen-oneill@rilin.state.ri.us
Host: Donna Perry Time: 30 minutes
Citizen Block and Senator O’Neill, both good government advocates, discuss the initiative to give the governor the budgetary tool of the line item veto. A line item veto will give the governor a stronger role in budget outcomes. Rhode Islanders can participate in this initiative by signing a petition on the website lineitemveto.org. They also discuss other matters relating to the state budget, particularly measures which will help improve the business climate and make Rhode Island more competitive with neighboring states.
