State of the State RI

Guests: Patrick Conley, Historian and Author
Robert Flanders, Jr., Attorney and Author
Host: Robert Benson Time: 30 minutes
This is the THIRD of a series of programs addressing the question: Does Rhode Island need a constitutional convention? Conley and Flanders have co-authored a book, Rhode Island Constitution: A Reference Guide, which is part of a national collection of books on state constitutions. They talk about the process which leads to having a constitution convention, especially the crucial role played by the preparatory commission, who may serve as delegates and more. They also share their ideas for possible changes to the RI Constitution. Above all, they assert that having a constitutional convention is an essential part of our representative form of government, whereby the people may have input. Conley and Flanders further express their faith and confidence in the people.
