I discovered my passion for photography shortly after my mother’s passing while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) 3 years ago. This time-lapse video is my visual representation of how the night sky and landscapes co-exist within a world of contradictions. I hope this connection between heaven and earth inspires you to discover and create your own opportunities, to reach your rightful place within two worlds.

All footage (roughly 7K images) was captured using Nikon equipment. No motion control systems used.
Every year my buddies Jay, Jason, Andrew, Aaron and I go on a road trip somewhere. The previous two have been in Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. We call these little excursions "Lost//Discovered." The name implies a feeling of getting lost from our normal lives and discovering something about ourselves. Be it passion, direction or literally anything. It's one of my favorite times of year and this past trip was another fantastic time!
This time we decided to fly to Oregon and rent our RV there, and just explore whatever seemed fun to us. The coast, waterfalls, mountains, anything we could get to. It's a time of year when we all have a lot less going on in our businesses photographing weddings, and it's the perfect time to get away, explore and hang out.
These trips are often tough for me. Often at this point in the year, I just need a break and while I want to time-lapse and drone everything I see, I'll also wish I could just carry a single camera and lens, and just stand there quietly capturing the scenes around me. It's a battle within. Sometimes I didn't do anything and other times I made a choice between droning or time-lapsing. I love that I didn't do a whole lot but walked away with some scenes I'm super pumped to have photographed.
This film is short, barely three minutes, and doesn't have a ton of scenes. I love this song "No Place on Earth" but Tony Anderson, and so I just let the notes dictate the number of clips I used. It's a mix of drone and time-lapse of random spots in Oregon. But every shot contains either mist or water, which is pretty much why I was craving Oregon in the first place. We were hoping for foggy conditions, waterfalls, waves, the ocean and anything akin to that. Even frozen Trillium Lake covered in snow had a low fog slightly obscuring Mt. Hood. The light was amazing the morning of our second day from Ecola State Park, and I gobbled that up.
Equipment included two Canon 5DSR's and a Phantom 3 Pro. Time-lapse clips rendered in After Effects, and the final film edited in Premiere Pro. I used the Lumetri Color effect to do simple editing of the drone footage.

This film was shot between June and September 2016, after the Kumamoto earthquake.
Japan has a long history of Buddhism and religious Mythology, where many have derived from other Asian cultures. One popular belief is that there is a God in everything. Until the 20th century, Kyushu was seen as Japan's gate to the world and a centre for trade. It has historically been the first stop for foreign traders and travelers in Japan and a place from which the outside influences would spread to the rest of the country. Time has moved on, but the landscapes and legends remain to this day.
The Kumamoto earthquake has caused serious damage to the region. Many people have suffered physical and mental injuries and tourism has fallen drastically. The aim of this film is to disseminate the new appeal of the Kyushu region from a different perspective and to lift those affected by the earthquake.
With this, we invite you to come on a journey with us to discover the real Kyushu where Gods, myths, and legends were created.
Some people see pilots as fearless, confident, arrogant, but they are no different than you or me, just willing to put it all on the line to keep our warbirds legacy alive at their own personal sacrifice.
This mini doc. is to show what it’s like to be a warbird pilot. These guys are keeping our history alive by flying and maintaining these legacy aircraft for future generations. Some of these guys were born into the life style, while others that have worked their way into the small community. Most pilots come off as fearless, confident, and sometimes arrogant but there is a reason for this. Fear can get you killed up in the air but confidence can get you home safely! We explore the aspects of flying these birds, the bad/difficult parts, the passion behind it/why they do it, the tragedies, the joys and the fears of this life style. John-Curtiss Paul talks about the life of maintaining and flying the old birds but also the life he potential leaves behind with each flight. There are only a handful of people in the world that are even capable of doing what John-Curtiss Paul does.

Most of this project was filmed on the FS100 but we also use a 7D, 60D, and Go-pro Footage. The FS100 was the A cam; we did not have a ton of lenses to work with...mainly the 18-200mm Sony E-mount and a 20mm Sony E-mount 2.8 which worked great for fast shooting. The trick for us was making good use of the Tiffen ND filters. We shot all the interviews at 24p and most of the Broll in 60p (S & Q). There were a few times I change to 1080 60p internal to the cam because I wanted to capture audio that I could use later in post but also want to slow it down to 24p. The 7D, which was our B cam also had a stock lens, the 18-135mm Canon EF. This was also the cam we used for the time-lapse shots. We had to be scrappy when making this project which was actually really fun. The project was finished up and edited in Premiere Pro CC.
