Pie Ranch is an educational farm whose mission it is to inspire and connect people to know the source of their food, and to work together to bring greater health to the food system from seed to table.
Along with their youth education program (vimeo.com/24176600) and their apprenticing farmer program (vimeo.com/27347513) they are collaborating with regional stakeholders interested in food system change. Much of that work is focused on access to land for new farmers who are interested in serving the local community.

Because our food system is broken, more young people need to start considering organic and sustainable farming as a viable career choice. People with land, money and knowledge need to start enabling them. Communities need to support them.
GROW! provides a look at this new generation of sustainable farmers through the eyes, hearts and minds of 20 passionate, idealistic and fiercely independent young growers. In the film they speak of both the joys and the challenges involved in tending the land.
The filmmakers are the recipients of the Georgia Organics 'Barbara Petit Pollinator Of The Year Award for GROW! The award honors an individual or organization for outstanding community leadership in pollinating Georgia's sustainable farming and food movement.

This is a video chronicling the planting and harvesting of potatoes, set to singer/songwriter Del Barber's touching piece, "Harvest." Just a personal project for the moment, it utilizes my two mainstay optics: a 24mm 1.4L and 135mm 2L from Canon. Shot on the 5D Mark II DSLR. My plans are to intersperse these clips with sit-down interviews of growers, as well as a few cutaway voiceovers and some titles here and there. Any suggestions? Thanks for looking...
