In their latest series, Michelle and Bryan address the timeless subject of sacred geometry in a fresh way by merging two drastically different disciplines to have a powerful effect on the viewer. These drawings of ancient sacred geometric patterns on paper are brought to life by projecting video-mapped animations onto them. Each of these patterns has significant meaning to ancient cultures, philosophers and mystics. By combining the traditional medium of drawing with the emerging technology of projection mapping, Michelle and Bryan are able to highlight the symbolic meanings and hidden relationships found in these timeless patterns. Ratios found within sacred geometry are echoed in nature, from the development of crystalline structures to the branch patterns of trees. As the viewer meditates on these works the relationship between sacred geometry and nature become increasingly clear.
This site specific installation was made for "To the Stars on the Wings of an Eel", a group show at the Gowanus Ballroom that explored the urban unconscious of the Gowanus and the surrounding areas. gowanusballroom.com/ The show included art world luminaries like Tom Otterness, Kiki Smith, Swoon, Duke Riley, Ray Smith, Dustin Yellin and more.

We were invited to participate in a group show at Gowanus Ballroom (gowanusballroom.com), an alternative gallery space near Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal. We were initially planning to install Portal, our gallery-ready sacred geometrical videomapped sculpture, but we opted to interact with 'Fleet City' by The Objectionists, a large sculpture already inhabiting the massive, cathedral-like space.
We precisely mapped custom visuals to a template built out of this whimsical piece's larger elements. We were also able to incorporate an associated painting on the adjacent wall.
Thanks to the Gowanus Ballroom and Serett Design (serett.com) for the opportunity, and to Digital Projection (digitalprojection.com) for building the perfect projector for the occasion.
