The Never Quit Challenge. Brave wounded vets battle rough seas, as they race 1600 miles from Key West, FL to NYC on jet skies. Six epic days raising awareness, and funds for charities. The Never quit Challenge finishes on an emotion day, September 11, 2013.
This is a brief look at a portion of my stills library, which mirrors my motion picture work that I created as an entry to the Olympus Pro Photography Showdown. Contests are something which I normally completely eschew for a number of reasons. But I decided to do this after conversations with the event organize,r and Brian Nevins, a friend and colleague who won it last year.
I intentionally bent but did not break the rules, as building something like this and maintaining my professional art based ethics meant following my own vision and not complying with what I see as being a perpetually low bar conservative modus in "contests" of this sort, in spite of this event likely being the better in the genre.
I knew this would therefore have about an icecube's chance in hell of winning, but even after being informed my entry went nowhere and seeing whose did, I remain really stoked that I agreed to build this and will make something else new and beautiful that more closely ascribes to my own vision for creative media.
It begins with a History based run through of Surfing and a few of my published works that were notable Covers all rendered just short of being a blur.
The middle portion is a 25 percent topic coverage.
The final third segment, is primarily work shot recently or otherwise subject themed as being Beauty, Ocean or Nature.
This piece is part of a larger project and was the result of culling 10 percent of my library file. Pulling 500 images, then editing it down to the approx 200 images represented in the piece.
