Countdown to Freedom 3 of 3 - The Power
When I think about Easter, I always think about the first friends and followers of Jesus Christ and the feelings they must have had when they saw Jesus Christ put to death on the cross. Can you imagine the distress, the disillusionment, and the disappointment they must have felt? Imagine also the incredible joy. Imagine the surprise, when just three days later Jesus Christ raised Himself back to life.
In John 8, Jesus made an incredible profound statement:
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.… If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” (John 8:32, 36)
The Gift of God
What is the message of Christmas? Let me summarize it. The message of Christmas is, You matter to God. You matter so much to God that He sent Jesus Christ to earth to let you know that you matter to Him. That is the whole message of Christmas.

If your family is anything like most families then from time to time, you need a new start. It’s like starting a new game together. Maybe your family is struggling right now. It could be a conflict between spouses, or between a parent and child, or maybe your kids are fighting and you don’t know what to do. Maybe you are about to start a family and you feel a little scared because there isn’t really a guide to starting a family. Maybe your marriage isn’t what it used to be. You have fallen out of love with your spouse and you are thinking “Game Over”.
Jesus Christ displayed the fact that He has the power to raise dead things from the dead. He has the power to give you life. He can resurrect your marriage, your family, and your relationships!
“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” (John 11:25)
What an amazing, true story!
Jesus, God in the flesh is the “anistami”.
He is the power of the resurrection.
Without Him, there is no resurrection and there is no life!
I want us to apply this today.
We are not just interested in understanding the words…
We are studying them…
Our goal is to experience them.
We are beginning a new series today called, “Wounded”. Let’s start together by reading the words of David from Psalm 109. All of us can relate to what David is saying here:
“For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me…Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy:… For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.” (Psalms 109:22,26 & 31)
Mercy in this context refers to God’s unfailing love.
If you are hurting today, if you are in need of healing from some of life’s wounds, then God is with you. He stands by the side of the needy one.
