NMS Standard 4: Safeguarding Children. Regulation 16: Arrangements for the protection of looked after children
BESAFE advocates a safe, sensible and socially equiping approach to online safety, social networking and web communities for looked after children. We support staff teams to integrate outcome focused solutions that enable them to equip young people with the tools and knowledge to support positive, consistent and sustainable life choices.

Tell it as it is. The sad truths and reality of child sexual abuse and exploitation.
Article 34 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child
Article 34 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which was ratified by all EU countries, is unequivocal in calling for the absolute protection of children from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse:
"States parties undertake to protect the child from all forms of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse. For these purposes, States parties shall in particular take all appropriate national, bilateral and multilateral measures."
Child Sexual Exploitation is not a new virus sweeping the universe. Where humans exist, exploitation is inevitable. As we venture into what appears to be a more honest and forthright approach to this reality, amidst the chaos of trying to prove who did what, when, we hope that the primary objective does not somehow get buried beneath the bones of the newly emerging 'skeletons in the cupboard'.
