A world where Chinese Culture is Celebrated.
To inspire and educate through Chinese Cultural Arts.
Founded in 1974, the New York Chinese Cultural Center is a performing arts and educational organization that promotes the understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture by preserving traditional genres and nurturing innovations that reflect our dynamic and diverse cultural heritage. The following are NYCCC's core programs:
The NYCCC SCHOOL OF THE ARTS
the country's only full time professional school of Chinese dance. The school offers a comprehensive curriculum of more than 1,000 classes and workshops annually. The Dance School is the only American institution to receive the honor of representing the dance curriculum of the Beijing Dance Academy, China's premier national dance institute.
DANCE CHINA NY (formerly known as the Chinese Folk Dance Company):
the resident touring company of NYCCC, is comprised of award-winning professional dancers and musicians. The Company brings the richness of traditional dance, Peking Opera and music to audiences across the country. Each year, the Company presents over 750 performances, workshops, master classes and lecture/demonstrations for 180,000 people of all ages. They have toured to theaters, schools and cultural centers in Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin and Washington, DC.
NYCCC produces and presents cutting edge concert productions, including our Annual Lunar New Year Festival, the largest of its kind on the East Coast. Our performances in February play to sold-out audiences. We are also pleased to host collaborative programs with other organizations and companies including Families with Children From China, Asian Americans for Equality, Children's Television Workshop, and Rounder Records.
The New York Chinese Cultural Center is a not-for-profit arts organization that teaches and preserves traditional Chinese performing arts while nurturing innovations for diverse audiences across the United States. Core programs support artists of the highest caliber and provide vital links between communities and across generations.

Double Fan Dance Collage
We utilized video from three different and recent Double Fan Dance performances to create
Double Fan Collage: a Kaleidoscope of Color and Dance
All videos were synchronized on an edit timeline by the audio, by the music which is the same exact recording in all three - video is shot in 29.97 frames per second. i.e. each frame approx 1/30th of a second --despite such small increments of time, the precision and timing of the dancers was so 'on the mark' and synchronized that almost no adjustment nor re-positioning of the footage was required to blend these videos together smoothly with "seamless" sequence overlapping and cross fading - the dancers were hitting their timing marks perfectly in performances that were weeks apart, in separate locations, and performed with variations in the actual participating dancers -
Double Fan Dance Collage affirms the excellent abilities, skills, timing and coordination of NYCCC's Performers, and is testament to the committment, vision and instructional quality of NYCCC Teachers

This clip is an excerpt from a video by Benjamin Andrew (full length 12:03) that remixes and distorts the idea of an art history documentary. Syrupy vocal effects and glitched-out video accompany a full installation with multiple soundtracks and sculptural elements.

This video was made for “Weekend Project: I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Split Screen!”
In these images the futuristic city of Shanghai, where time seems to run very fast, is contrasted with "Xidi" and "Chengkan," two villages in Anhui province and they dated from the Ming's dynasty, where time seems to have been stoped for centuries.
