  2. 7fifty is the story of Monicah, a bright-eyed, vivacious teenager who was stripped from her family at the age of 15 and fled for her life in the midst of tribal warfare. She found refuge in the hear of one of Africa's largest slums: Kibera. It was there, while Freedom Global (previously Uhuru Child) was building a school, that we met Monicah and began a journey that would lead us from the streets of Kibera across Kenya in search of her family.
This is her story: it is one of tragedy and it is one of hope. It is a story echoed across Kenya.

The repercussions of Kenya's post-election violence are still present today, leaving many children without quality education and many adults without employment to support their families.
this too becomes a part of your story.

Show the 7fifty documentary as many times as possible to as many people as possible. Expose the realities of poverty. Join Freedom Global in igniting a movement to raise funds and awareness through building schools and social businesses.

Uhuru means freedom. Freedom takes action.

(Note: Freedom Global filmed 7fifty our very first year as a ministry.)

  4. Haron Karoke works in one of Uhuru Child's very first Kenyan social businesses, the Uhuru Shambas (Freedom Farms). When we met Haron he was resettling in an IDP camp of 1,000 people who had lived through tribal warfare. Haron and his family were living in a tent, earned only $0.30 per day, struggled to find food, and were walking almost three miles twice a day to retrieve water. Today, Haron is the manager of eleven adults who have full time employment in Uhuru Shamba social business.

Uhuru's social businesses give employment to families living in extreme poverty, and they pour all profits into Uhuru's secondary schools. This allows our secondary schools to be self-sustaining while still giving a top quality education to children living in extreme poverty.
