AN Oxfordshire cavalry officer is leading his soldiers in support of Afghan forces as they clear an area of Helmand Province.
Captain George Matthews (26), who lives in Shipton-Under-Wychwood, is serving in Afghanistan with D Squadron of the King’s Royal Hussars, and has been deployed on frequent combat operations for the last three months.
The Kings Royal Hussars are in command of the Warthog section in Afghanistan. They are at the for front of some of the most kinetic operations. However, the Warthog is one of the most armored terrain vehicles that the UK forces have and stand up to the name of being tough and sturdy.
