Now that you’re registered, you’re ready to create your campaign. We’ve made each step as simple as possible and have included helpful hints along the way. Just click one of the question mark buttons to learn exactly what to do. Let’s get started!
When you choose the option to create a new campaign, you must first give your campaign a name. Enter a name that is descriptive and will allow you to know which campaign you are managing.
You can skip any step and plan to come back to them later, but all steps must be completed before you begin making calls. The icons at the top right of the page show you exactly where you are in the process.
After you’ve named your campaign, take a few minutes to write a short, effective introduction, closing and voicemail message for the calls. This section also accepts short codes to help make your messages more personal. When you put in the proper tag, Volunteer Your Voice replaces that tag with the person’s name or other personalized information. Pretty cool, huh?
Next, you can add your questions to the survey. There are four types of questions. Multiple choice questions allow you to dictate the possible answers that may be entered, just like multiple choice questions on a test. There are also “yes/no” and “true/false” question options to ask specific, pointed questions. Finally, there is an “Open Ended” question type that allows for user generated answers. Always remember that these questions must be asked verbally, so keep them as simple and short as possible.
Once you’ve entered all your questions, select a phone number. This is the number that will show up on the caller ID of the people you call. You can search by area code or zip code and select the number that best fits your needs. People are more likely to answer numbers that are from an area code they recognize, so choose a number near where you are conducting the survey. Once you select your number, a pop-up will appear. Put a number that you want the calls forwarded to in this box. This might be your office or cell phone number.
Next, upload a list of names and phone numbers that you wish to call. Select the file that you wish to upload. The file must be in .CSV form in order to be recognized by the site. You can save a CSV file out of Microsoft Excel or a similar program. See our tool tip for details on how to do this. After you’ve uploaded a list, we store the list in your account for use on future campaigns.
Once you’ve uploaded the CSV file, select the labels that best fit your data. If your file has headers, we will complete this step for you. Then, select which column contains the phone numbers using our built-in interface. As long as the phone number has ten or eleven digits, the system will recognize it regardless of the format.
Your survey is now complete! On this last screen, you can select options to e-mail your volunteers, purchase more credits, or make additional changes to your campaign.
So you need to collect some polling data using a phone bank. You could get an expensive phone system, print 5000 pages of surveys, and have volunteers manually call from an empty conference room. Or you could go the expensive route and pay someone a bunch of money to set up a custom system. But isn’t there a better way? I mean, Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in the 1870s, and there’s still no better way to do phone banking?
Now there is. It’s called VolunteerYourVoice. How does it work?
VolunteerYourVoice is a web based application that allows your volunteers to make calls right from their own computer. When you first create your VolunteerYourVoice account, you will be given a chance to use our campaign creation wizard. The wizard guides you through uploading your call list, creating your survey, and inviting volunteers to participate. Volunteers can begin calling immediately from their home phone or computer.
Once responses start being collected, you can see the results immediately. You can even make edits to the script in real-time. You’ll get useful graphs and charts plotting your data for later use.
Forget expensive equipment and wasted paper. Now you can empower your volunteers to phone bank right from the comfort of their own home. Visit VolunteerYourVoice.com or call 888-123-3245 to learn more and sign up.
