From the creative forces behind the award winning "Women Warriors: A Vision of Valor” and "Bridges: Transitioning to Civilian Life” comes “Spectrum: Embracing Gender” -- A powerful and thought provoking documentary that reveals the real-life struggles faced by people struggling with their gender identity and/or transitioning to another gender. Gender plays a significant role in the way Americans interact with each other. Gender predetermines many ways people will interact with you. There are other cultures that recognize more than two genders and here in the United States we are seeing more recognition for more than just man and woman. There is in an uprise in the use of the pronoun ze for those that don’t want to be associated with either he or she. "Spectrum: Embracing Genders" gives us an inside look at some of the personal obstacles people struggling with gender identity face. "Spectrum: Embracing Genders" is a must-see documentary that provides vital information for building acceptance of all people and recognizing that we are all human.
My office helped students from Front Range Community College reach out to Colorado veterans to interview as part of a Library of Congress Veterans History Project film documenting the evolving role of women in war. The film follows the stories of 10 women veterans from WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Desert Storm, the Iraq War and Afghanistan War and compares their experiences and how they supported combat operations. This film and interview footage collected by the students was submitted into the Library of Congress for future research and historical purposes.
