At noon on Wednesday the 19th September, MSF organised a flashmob in Geneva to protest against the action brought by the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis in India. This action threatens access to generic drugs, of which India is the largest producer.
Nearly 200 people were immobilised on the rue du Mont-Blanc for several minutes, highlighting the fact that 'if Novartis wins, everything stops.' An ambulance arrived on the scene to evacuate the wounded. The porters were also frozen to symbolise the threat posed by the action of Novartis' access to care.
ʻĀINA (pronounced "eye-nah") means “That Which Feeds Us” in the Hawaiian language. The film highlights a way to address some of the most pressing environmental and health crises facing the island of Kauai - and of island Earth. That may sound like an outstanding claim, but as ʻĀINA vividly illustrates, such is the power of agriculture and food for people and the planet.
