Ben and Terry Hannam have been in and around the British wake scene for years. Having grown up behind a boat with their dad, they pursued a dream of always being close to the water throughout their adult lives. Terry is one of the UK's most successful wakeskaters to date, they have been importing independent board brands like Goodwood and Vampire Boards for years, they own the British wakeskate brand 'Aesthetic' and now their latest and biggest project has opened for business.
Hannams Wake Hub is the culmination of three years of countless meetings, planning applications, rejections and stress, but these brothers have always believed in their dreams and refused to give in. This is the story of their determination to live a life on the water and work for themselves, while boosting the sport that they love.

There are few wake parks in the world where you have such a great choice of obstacles on two cables, let alone with a permanent pool gap to hit! Hannams Wake Hub features the UK's only pool gap along with two Sesitec System 2.0 cables and a host of UNIT rails.
This park is hands-down the best place to wakeboard or wakeskate in the UK, set in the beautiful countryside of Cambridgeshire near Stretham & Ely.
Perfect setup, first rate coaching and the friendliest of welcoming's, make sure you head to their website to book a tow for yourself soon.
This year Hannam's Wake Hub is resurrecting the spirit of Harbour Reach and ThinkTank, with a series of 2-day long wakeskate jams held every other month at their park in Cambridge, England.
Comprised of Jet Ski, System 2.0 cable riding, and a specifically built split level pool-to-pool gap towed by a winch, this is a true wakeskaters paradise. Last week the best of the UK's riders and some european guests convened at Hannams Wake Hub for the first of three event weekends this year, and when the Ben & Terry Hannam opened the gates to the pool gap the riders couldn't get their wetsuits on fast enough.
The relaxed freeride format for the weekend encouraged progression and attempting new tricks rather than just doing what is safe in order to win a contest. The stand out riders were Si Powell in a close 4th, Pierre Atruz placing 3rd, Ollie Moore in 2nd and Aesthetic Wakeskates own James Harrington taking the win after all the riders voted for their standout wakeskater of the weekend.
Will Bradley threw down hammers all weekend, walking away with some cash for the Best Trick of the weekend, a frontside 270 shuv to backside boardslide on the pool gap hubba ledge.
There next stop of the Three Stage Jam series takes place on July 20-21 so make sure you get along to ride yourself or just enjoy a great weekend of wakeskating and social activities!
At just 12 years old and having only started wakeboarding one year ago, Luke Pearson is on the fast track to becoming a future big-name in the sport.
The Cambridgeshire rider trains at Hannams Wake Hub, a cable wakeboard park just outside of Stretham with two cable systems and a host of obstacles. In this his second summer on the water, Luke has so far won the first stop of the National AOD Tour behind the boat, and competed in the British Boat Championships, coming 6th in his division. Also Luke is currently placed 4th in the standings for the Toe-To-Tow cable wakeboard series, which takes place all summer at Hannams Wake Hub, with the next stop on August 11th.
“What I love about wakeboarding, is that there’s nothing you can’t do. You can always be the person to step it up and try a new trick to take it to the next level” said the Wentworth local about his favourite pastime.
While many of the customers at Hannams Wake Hub are older than Luke, with the summer holidays just around the corner owners and head coaches Ben and Terry Hannam hope to have more youngsters coming to the park to learn how to wakeboard and hopefully catch the bug that Luke caught!
Having recently taken on Luke as a fully sponsored rider, Ben Hannam is excited to discover more local talent and said “We are trying to encourage more youngsters to come down, and want to work with local schools in Ely and the surrounding villages to help get kids to experience wakeboarding, as it’s a great social sport that keeps you fit and enjoying the outdoors while the sun is shinning!”
Wakeboarding is the fastest growing watersport in the world, and with the recent boom of 2-tower cable parks opening all over the world, more and more people are taking up this fun, active and social sport than ever before. The benefits of learning on a 2-tower cable include 1-to-1 coaching from an operator with complete control of your speed. This means they can limit how often you fall, which has led to 100% of new-comers picking up wakeboarding in the first 15-minutes of being on the water at Hannams Wake Hub!
Talking about his fast track learning experience, Luke owes it all to great coaching; “Ben and Terry Hannam are both really good coaches, they’ve helped me progress so much and always tell me what tricks I can do”.
