  5. A $5 donation to Mid-Ohio Foodbank helps feed a family in central and eastern Ohio for an entire day. Because of food donations and our bulk purchasing power, that $5 really equals $40 worth of food!

USx8 is a movement to create awareness among a generation strapped for cash that even giving a little goes a long, long way.

Mid-Ohio Foodbank provides food to hundreds of thousands of hungry Ohioans each year by partnering with more than 530 emergency feeding sites across central and eastern Ohio, including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, senior centers, and after-school programs. Mid-Ohio Foodbank is a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief charity. For more information visit midohiofoodbank.org.

(The background photograph is of Kibera, the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. Homes in Kibera are shacks of corrugated metal, with no plumbing or electricity. 20,000 children in Kibera can't afford to attend public school, due to the cost of books and uniforms. HIV/AIDS devastates the community.)

It took the authors 5 years to shoot this real drama about a little Russian boy who got a heart transplant in Italy. A lot of people were by his side on his long journey full of hardships, except for his mother...
