The summit of Mount Pierce is located on the border of the Presidential Dry River wilderness, in the pristine White Mountains of New Hampshire. This peak, at 4310 feet elevation, is one of the Presidential Range peaks, as well as one of the 48 peaks in New Hampshire which reach above 4000 feet elevation. On this mountain, each piece of green growth represents a fierce struggle for life, as the winters are long and brutal and the summers are fleeting.
Finding good weather above treeline is a rare occasion. On this day, not only was the weather good, but the wind was nowhere to be found. The surrounding views were of a Utopian landscape.
A bright and sunny day, with the winter's snow barely enough to call it winter, we headed up this 3 mile stretch of trail to gain a 360 degree panorama of the surrounding countryside. Mount Kearsarge is located on the northern outskirts of North Conway, New Hampshire. Because it harbors the last remaining Fire Tower in the White Mountains and has spectacular views, this peak is very popular. Come along and share our journey, as we take in what was shown to be such wondrous views into New Hampshire and Maine.
