Journey through the eccentric and dramatic life of the reclusive and unusual outsider artist, Christina Conrad. A feature documentary that - in keeping with the artist herself is an exception to most of the rules - is by turns a surprising and confronting mix of odd and original characters, tragic/comic monologues and bizarre improvisations counterpointed by fetishes, masks, icons, paintings, sculptures and archival photographs, punctuated by an original soundtrack by C.W. Stoneking.
‘Cluster’ is an examination of the innocence and
vulnerability of children amidst modern cluster bomb
warfare. The bomblets dropped by the US army, most
recently in the Israel – Lebanon conflict are designed
to detonate at a later stage and their bright yellow
colour, coupled with their small and unthreatening
appearance has caused children to mistake them for
toys. This photographic story journeys with a young
boy as he leaves the safety of a western playtime
environment and enters the danger and destructiveness
of an actual war-zone. Black and white photographs
interlaced with 16mm film images of skeleton leaves,
spider- webs, veined petals and insects wings, fall
like the ash of a nuclear bomb.
