"Cathedral Scan" translates the architectural plans of Gothic cathedrals into open-ended musical scores via custom software. Treating the plans as a kind of map, in the live performance Carrington navigates through them to create diverse rhythms, drones and textures. This version is the direct signal (without spatial acoustics) from a performance at Rustines Lab in Montreal, in Oct 2009. Update Feb 2011: In March the full-length album version of "Cathedral Scan" will be released by Dragon's Eye Recordings. Album page and audio excerpts here: dragonseyerecordings.com/catalogue/de5033.html. View newer Cathedral Scan excerpt for high-res image.
