1. TLA CompuTech: A brand-new full-year course taught by TLA Technology Coordinator, Mr. Edward Hewlett. Beginning with "bare-metal" and building up through hardware, operating systems, and programming, right on up to web-services, this course is designed to introduce students to every aspect of computer technology and lay the groundwork for pursuing proficiency in all areas of computer science. The textbook for the course will be a Raspberry Pi single-board computer (http://www.raspberrypi.org) which all registered students will receive free of charge (students will be responsible for obtaining relevant peripherals themselves) and which will feature as a common platform for all students' year-long computing projects. Registration is open now to all students registered or enrolled with TLA; TLA Exploratorium students are especially encouraged to join! The TLA Surrey Classes registration form is the place to go for further details like grant deductions and to sign up: http://goo.gl/jr9PL (Distance enrolment will be made available if enough students are interested...)
