Snow Peak's first US store comes to life in the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon.
The Grand Opening was held on March 1st, 2013. We were happy to have a great turn out to help us celebrate, including special guest Tohru Yamai, President of Snow Peak, and Charlie Hales, Mayor of Portland. Thanks to the Snow Peak team, our designers, contractor and everyone who contributed for all their hard work.
The Lapel Torch is the first light of its kind. Offering a more versatile and comfortable hands free light that uses a magnetic silicone clip to attach to such things as a shirt, backpack chest strap, around a pole or directly to any ferrous metal. The silicone clip has been designed to allow the light to be aimed in any direction desired. The remote battery pack features a 28 inch cord so you can easily stow it into any pocket. When not being used, the cord can be wrapped around the battery pack for clean and easy storage. In this configuration the Lapel Torch can be used as a hand held flashlight. This extremely bright, lightweight, versatile light is great for backpacking, running, or as a utility light.
The Mini Hozuki is a small, durable backpacking lantern that was born out of the original Hozuki design. The Mini Hozuki has all the same features as it’s larger version, including Candle Mode that turns your lantern into flickering candle. Using a silicon globe and magnetic ball the Mini Hozuki utilizes its flexible design to increase durability by bending instead of breaking. The lightweight and compact design coupled with extremely long battery life makes it perfect for extended trips and use in remote areas. Its fusion of elegant design and superior functionality makes it incomparable.

Yukio Yamai, The founder of SNOW PEAK, first started his business of making mountain gear in a small village of Sanjo city, Niigata prefecture. His son, TOHRU YAMAI later took over the business to expand to lifestyle products and to keep the outdoor products brand evolving. Unlike its competitor with focus on function, SNOW PEAK offers well-designed products that are suitable for everyday use as well. The outdoor products maker takes its approach by vigorously questioning how people should interact with nature.
