This is a video I put together from 5 or so sunny days of riding on Thompson Pass near Valdez for the King of the Hill and Tailgate Alaska. The snow was generally excellent, aside from the sunnier aspects that would have a slight crust in places, and other wind loaded areas. You may notice my skepticism in one line in particular
(both wind load and crust were found). Some of the footage was during the King of the Hill competition on April 3rd; chances are if there are fresh tracks ahead of mine, it was during the comp. The bitchin' tunes are Iron Maiden, The Trooper.
As Squaw reported 2-4 inches in the resort, a few of us decided to see what the backcountry had to offer. So we loaded up the sleds, packed some toys, and strapped on our powder boards hoping for the best. Luckily enough, deep in the woods we found perfect fluffy powder about a foot deep. We started off skiing some lines shooting with a point and shoot and once we realized how sick it was we broke out the big camera and scoped some larger cliffs. Good times, great snow, bluebird skies and the celebration of the one and only, Shane McConkey, made for a perfect Tahoe ski day. Hope you enjoy.
