There is no doubt that the need for people
to participate in a hobby is an important part
of retirement. Research supports the theory
that everyone needs something to do, not
only for the social interaction and mental
stimulation, but also to simply get out of the
house!
There are few better ways for retirement
villages, nursing homes and community
organisations to assist residents to enjoy
their hobbies than to provide a Work Shed.
Many retirement villages have had Work
Sheds available for a number of years now.
The very popular Minter Ellison guide
produced in May 2007 has now been updated
to reflect the Workplace Health & Safety
changes from 1 January 2012. We are
delighted to have Victoria Donaghy, Partner
of Minter Ellison relaunch this publication to
the industry and speak on important issues
affecting Safety in the Work Shed.
The Workshop will be held on Thursday
18th October 2012 at the Leading Age
Services Australia Queensland Office at 6
Pavilions Close, Jindalee from 2.30 pm to
4.30 pm. This workshop is open to all LASA
Q members and their industry colleagues as
this subject is of interest to not only retirement
village operators, but also to community care
and residential care services.
