  2. On Wednesday Darran Cowd, Collections Officer, visited our friends at Weston Park Museum in Sheffield to see some of the 1984/85 Miner's Strike objects that we've lent them. Just by coincidence the Scarborough Spa Express was passing through Wakefield as he was on his way to Sheffield, with the steam locomotive, an LMS 8F engine, reminding everyone at the station that there was a time when you couldn't travel anywhere without coal fuelling the journey.

  3. Mark Carlyle and Darran Cowd, curatorial staff at the National Coal Mining Museum for England visited the Chasewater Railway to look at the museum's narrow gauge underground mines locomotive which has been lent to the railway. The volunteers at Chasewater have done a stirling job of restoring the locomotive to order and here Mark is seen taking the Ruston-Hornsby 48DLZ for a test run on Chasewater's narrow gauge railway.
