Hello and welcome. This site was created to share my work with those individuals involved in creating it, our families and friends. Let me take a moment to share a little background.

JAZZ PIECE IN PROGRESS and BOUQUETS were taped during the rehearsal process. Because it is a rehearsal, the viewer will see starts and stops, repetitions of phrases, and hear my voice.

At the time of its taping HD was not available. Also there were few lighting instruments at our disposal. A more sophisticated lighting design would have significantly enhanced the emotional moods of the dances. In recording the process, we have the benefit of the camera’s unique capacity to cut to different angles, close-ups, wide angle, etc. that gives the viewer and dancers quite a different experience from that of a live performance.

As for space, the dances were designed for a large proscenium stage. Depth wise, our rehearsal space was half that size.

In the dance SOJOURNERS, Rick Amundson of BRAVO ROMEO ENTERTAINMENT, who also dances in the piece and is the editor, proposed the intriguing idea of putting the performance in animation, which gives the piece an emotional spin of an other-worldly dimension. This fits well with the original concept’s intention of carrying the viewer to a mysterious realm where we follow these sojourners through a dream-like world.

Initially, as the group continues its journey, one dancer lingers in serene anticipation of the unknown. With the arrival of an outsider, the two join, finding comfort and solace.

However, forebodings and separation exist. Image moves to image, seemingly disconnected. There are overtones of conflict that the players in this drama accept in an emotionally detached way, as if they are observers as well as participants steeped in confusion and struggle. The resolve comes as the intruder melts into and becomes a part of the group.

You will see Rick’s animated version followed by the “flesh reality” of the dancers in performance.
