Cityscape Chicago is a personal timelapse piece consisting of over 30,000 still photographs shot on the Canon 5D Mark III incrementally between July and October 2012 around downtown Chicago, Illinois.

The inspiration of this piece was my fascination with the city of Chicago, particularly at night. For me, there has always been a mysterious sort of feeling to Chicago at night, so I decided to explore and capture it.

Special thanks to Kessler Crane for the motion control equipment used in the making of this video.

Also, thank you to Hotel 71 and the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago

  3. Quick Tips: Adding Highlights in the Eyes.

Here is a little video showing a technique that I picked up from Scott Kelby.  I think the book was called. Photoshop for the Professional Photographer.

For me, this is the fastest method of getting some extra impact on your images when it comes to shooting portraiture. Bright lovely eye contact is always a winner.

This is my quick take on the concept.

  4. I demonstrated this live during a Creating Star Trails Webinar. Here I am going through all of the steps including some advanced masking techniques.

The total time is about 12 minutes. See if you can spot my several faux pas (there are a few)!

Hint: I seem to be hunting to find the "Duplicate Layer" option. And I did something wrong regarding the watermark... did you spot it?

The AdvancedStackerPlus (advancedstackerplus.com) was released in October, 2013.

A newer version (14E) was released on June 30, 2014. Operation is nearly identical except we removed many of the annoying pop-ups from the Do This First.

This video illustrates six different stacking modes of the Advanced Stacker PLUS. The individual frames are animated in the upper left while each of the stack results are shown in different windows.

Note how things like the airplane trail and the sky brightness change differently for each stacking mode.

Also, the images on the right half are using the "Foreground Masking" option. The foreground being used is from the single frame in which the tree is lit. That foreground frame coresponds to the "flash" you see in the original.

The timelapse/compositing was created using Photoshop CC while all of the frames were created using Advanced Stacker PLUS version 14.

    DO WATCH this in HD.
