Project 90 by 2030 is a non-profit organisation working with communities in Southern Africa to enhance energy and water security. We have been working with the Eastern Cape community of Msobomvu since January 2012.
This film highlights one of the workshops held in Msobomvu, which subsequently resulted in a community decision to focus specifically on cooking and lighting needs for the immediate term.
The first stage of rolling-out the chosen solutions took place at the end of November 2012. Highly efficient cook-stoves and Wonderbags were delivered by Project 90 staff and volunteers. An innovative solar home lighting kit (that also charges mobile phones) has been designed by Grey Green Engineering, and will be assembled and installed by the villagers themselves in January 2013.

It is nearly two years since the Project 90 team began working together with the community of Msobomvu, a village of around 250 households located outside of East London, in identifying ways to enhance the energy and water security of the community.
Two years down the line, many noticeable changes have taken place within the community. This short film documents the transformational journey within the Msobomvu community.
