The original model was based on a concept/character by David Nakayama at 3D Total (3dtotal.com/index_tutorial_detailed.php?id=1587#.UrcerlfYGcd). This is the rig that I built in Houdini for animation. Features IK/FK for arms and legs, spine/head controls for each bone and also larger controls for animating some of the bones in groups. Blendshapes for the body to correct certain areas, specifically the hips and shoulders, that respond to certain channels on the bone as it's rotated. Blendshapes for the face for various facial poses.
Also FX built in to allow the wings to "morph" from nothing to their full shape.
Original model done in ZBrush and Modo. Then rigged in Houdini 12.5.
