1. Was raining all day yesterday. I challenged myself to stand on the front porch and see if I could shoot enough interesting stuff for a two minute something or other to test out some vintage lenses.

Music: "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers

    Technical stuff:
    Asahi Auto-Takumar 85mm f1.8
    Prinz 135mm f 2.8
Lumix GH2 using the Driftwood Cluster v6 (Nebular) hack
    Smooth -2 -2 0 -2
(almost) all footage shot at 720p 60 and slowed down to 23.976
Some shots are with Extra Tele Conversion turned on in the camera (super close up)
No serious color grading, mainly just levels adjustments in post.

There was heavy banding on some of the footage, looking like it is suffering from the ISO bug in the camera, but other than ISO160, I shot at multiples of ISO 200, so I'm not sure why this is. It could just be extra prominent because of the ETC mode.

  2. The Butterfly Effect is a short CG animated film Passion Pictures has made in partnership with Unity, the games engine developers using the new Unity 4.0 3D software. The film was written and directed by Dan Sumich and is a homage to the classic action films from the 1970s through to the 1990s, with a soundtrack by the legendary heavy metal vocalist Steve Grimmett. An ordinary looking guy wakes up one morning feeling the worse for wear and realises he’s run out of milk. As he drags himself out of the house to go and buy some, an extraordinary sequence of events draws him into a journey of mayhem on the streets of San Francisco.

Nokta . (Dot .) is an abstract short film project which is an improvisation of organic pieces and themes like power, control and luck. Using low-budget equipment and with the combination of actual camera shooting, 2d and 3d animation techniques, the film alters the reality and physics of the real world with the help of the liquid and dynamic simulations’ impact.

Even though the film is not produced according to the base of Amos Funkenstein’s text on harmony, but the text is a convenient statement for the stylistic and representational behaviour of the film.

'I see some correspondence between the foundation of universal harmony on elliptical orbit and the predilection for the elliptic forms in Baroque architecture. In both cases harmony is still defined as unity within multiplicity, but it ceased to be static, namely, harmony expressed in one ideal geometrical form, and became so to speak dynamic. What was previously regarded as the deviation from the ideal form, was comprehended for the first time as an integral part of the form, or form of forms, which are capable of endless transitions one into another. ' [Amos Funkenstein, The Dialectical Preparation of Scientific Revolutions. On the Role of Hypothetical Reasoning in the Emergence of Copernican Astronomy and Galilean Mechanics.]
