I’ve been recording video every day since March 10, 2012 after I watched Cesar Kuriyama’s 1 Second Everyday movie. Much like Cesar, of all the videos I’ve recorded I’ve been selecting one second a day and editing them together to create a six minute movie of the past year.
This is the current state of my 1 Second Everyday project (As of April 1, 2013). It begins with random seconds from 2012. In mid-January it takes on a noticeable chronology in Guatemala. In early March I flew to Austin to SXSW. The final 10 seconds or so are my first week in San Francisco.
Starting on May 1st, 2012, I began a video Journal. After following Cesar Kuriyama's video creation(vimeo.com/37792362) recording 1 second everyday, I had to create my own with a different twist: I would record for two seconds, rather than one, and all shots would be from my Point Of View..
I really made me think about, how Cesar said, that we repeat our same boring daily routines. This was a learning experience for me, making me realize that I did do the same boring thing daily. Creating this video really pushed me to do something interesting everyday.
Unfortunately, my computer has been going through some issues and I was forced to end the video sooner than I hoped to. However, I do plan on doing this next year (2013) for the the same amount of time to compare life events a year later.
