One Day on Earth began in the fall of 2008 as a global media event for which the hours of a day on earth, country by country, would be documented in film. Intrigued, the United Nations assumed sponsorship and expanded the project. For Earth Day, 2012, Marco Orsini was selected by the Principality of Monaco to shoot, direct and produce its entry. Spend a day with the Monegasque in this glorious Mediterranean principality and surprise yourself.
Un Dia en La Vida ("A Day in the Life") is a drama about Rosalina Gomez, saddled with an ailing husband and a downtrodden motel business, who wakes up one day to a new challenge. Written and directed by Marco Orsini and starring Ana Mercedes and Tony Acevedo, this short film won Best Dramatic Short Film at the IFCT Festival in 2005.
When Marco’s partner organised a scholarly, month-long trek across northern Ethiopia for a few friends, Marco wished him “good luck and God-speed.” Then, when illness prevented his partner’s participation, Marco stepped in and took over. Now, instead of his usual tour of ski resorts and film festivals, this indy writer-director is taking a journey out of his comfort zone into the unfamiliar richness of a poor country.
