Enjoy master flautist Emmanuel Pahud's emotive rendition of Claude Debussy’s Syrinx for flute solo.

Claude Debussy wrote Syrinx, L. 129 in 1913. It was the first significant piece for solo flute after the Sonata in A minor composed by C. P. E. Bach 150 years earlier.

French-Swiss Emmanuel Pahud (b. 1970) has appeared as soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras including London Philharmonic, Zurich Tonhalle and Washington National Symphony. In 1992 he joined the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
Pahud has lived in Switzerland, Italy, France and Berlin. From the age of 4 to the age of 22, Emmanuel Pahud was tutored and mentored by flautists such as François Binet, Carlos Bruneel and Aurèle Nicolet. He has collaborated with conductors such as Abbado, Rattle, Zinman, Maazel, Gergiev, Gardiner, Harding, Järvi, Rostropovich and Perlman.
