Christian Moutinho, an excellent surfer and friend I met while shooting my short Nova Scotian surf film "North/Northeast" invited me along to film a surf trip to Mainland Mexico. I was super stoked and agreed to be a part of the adventure. I met up with him and fellow Canadian surfers Leah Oke and Keegan Varney several months later in Mex to put a video together.

This film has transformed from a simple short for the web into both an introduction and inspiration to a much bigger and deeper project: The Water's Edge Project.

Please visit the Water's Edge Project website linked below for more information.

    Surfers:
    Christian Moutinho
    Leah Oke
    Keegan Varney
    Mick Fanning
    Dane Reynolds
    Shane Dorian
    Alex Gray

Shot on the Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 60D, and GoPro Hero.

Sound recorded with the Zoom h4n.

Edited in Premiere Pro and colored with Magic Bullet.

Music by Gustavo Santaolalla and Florence and the Machine

  3. The brothers head to Melbourne, the culture capital of Australia. The first stop is a visit to the Victoria Bitters Brewery to learn how their favorite Australian beer is made. Next, the boys break down the Melbourne’s CBD (Central Business District) and go exploring the maze of lanes and alleyways. During their walkabout, they discover an artist named Doyle who breaks down the vibrant Melbourne street art scene. After, they head over to Dinkum Pies to devour their famous meat pies and then close the trip with a last minute session at the beautiful Bells Bowl. Music: "I Know You're Holding" by Moses Luster and The Hollywood Lights, "Moonless March" by Aloha, "Ruler of the Night" and "Melodies" by Magic Trick, "Handsome Devil" by Jim Bianco, "Sleeping in the Sun" by Heavy Young Heathens, "Alley Man" by Fred Card, "Knot in the Vine" by Faces on Film, "À Cause De Toi" by Le Volume Était Au Maximum, "Last Night (Last Heads)" by Me & You, "Chasing the Green Fairy" by Greater California, "Jeremy's Plee" courtesy of Soundfile Productions, and "Escape From Shantytown" by The Diplomats of Solid Sound
