Christ says his reason for coming to earth was to serve, not to be served. His radical act of service stands in stark contrast to man’s prideful ambition. His humble service was extended to those who loved Him and to those who hated Him. His example was counter cultural in every way.
The failure of your flesh has been removed because Christ conquered your flesh for you. God now calls you sons and heirs with Jesus Christ. You are no longer working for that good favor. It has been given to you freely. There is nothing you can do to improve your standing. It is as good as it can possibly get. This is what Christ does for you. Christ frees you from your guardian, the law.
What made Christ’s behavior good was the fact that it flowed naturally out of His faith & love for our heavenly Father. Therefore, if we truly want to imitate Christ, we need look no further than the great commandment to love the Lord our God. Our first goal then should not be to imitate Christ’s actions. In fact, it shouldn’t be a goal at all. Instead, imitating Christ’s faith & the love for God that flows from that faith should be the ONLY goals today, tomorrow & every day until we die. If we strive for greater faith & love, the works will come on their own… if we don’t, the works that we do will be useless. - See more at: abundant-life-ministries.com/sermons-and-studies/#sthash.5iZgqU4N.dpuf
We must go forward with faith emphasizing God’s message of faith working through love. This is a critical part of being useful in God’s kingdom, but it is not understood through sight. You cannot define usefulness based on what can be seen. Usefulness from God’s prospective depends totally on faith. The person of faith does not need sight, nor do they require sight of others. You go forward on faith working to show God’s love to every person God directs you to. It is God’s church with God’s mission for God’s purpose. Let’s go out and live lives solely dedicated to faith.
