I shot the new Alerion 41 in March on Narragansett Bay and then did the interiors about a week later. Shooting outside in March in RI is not the best time of year to shoot a new boat on the bay but that was the only time it was available so we just got on with it. We used my 25 ft Apex RIB "Onnesignment" as a chase boat and shot the boat with the Canon XF300 camcorder with a Kenyon gyro mounted on a Sympla shoulder rig. The interior was shot in the factory and had complete control of the lighting and temperature of our shooting environment, a lot better then shooting outside!I I like to use moving video clips of the interior and not still shots, its a lot more realistic and shows the boat in a much better way. We used a slider I made from a piece of Harken main sheet track with the Manfrotto fluid head mounted on the car. It worked perfectly and I think the video shows it. We used a Canon 1 Dx with a 16-35mm Canon lens set at F8-11.
A big thank you to my two assistants :
My able bodied 14 year old chase boat driver Adrian van der Wal who braved the knarly conditions on the bay and Halsey Fulton who is always there to help with what ever I need help with from loading gear on the boat to moving the slider down below. Halsey is the best helper and assistant I have ever worked with, he never complains and gets on with it and no matter where in the world we are working, jet lagged, hungry, cold, it doesnt matter, her gets it done! He is a pleasure to have around. Thanks Halsey, with out you I could not get the job done!!
And last but not least a big thank you to Mike Brown for working with Scott Bryant on on the editing.
A sleek, modern design.
This new member of the Lagoon family has style and a strong personality.
While keeping a family resemblance and retaining the main features of the latest generation of Lagoons, it shows us a new path: unhurried evolution, a new "organic" approach, in search of harmony between living space and man.
An elegant silhouette, flowing curves which, by virtue of a noticeable acceleration of the lines in the bows and in the new coachroof design, emphasise the powerful and dynamic nature of this new model… A VPLP design naturally, a guarantee of performance under sail!
