mix@ges - Intergenerational Bonding via Creative New Media

  1. Inspired by the exhibition “John Cage and …” at the Museum der Moderne, Salzburg and the artist’s idea of breaking up any borders between art and life 16 young (ART-ORG St. Ursula) and older participants used private artifacts to reflect on how different viewers and point of views change the artifacts‘ significance. The artifacts were constantly rearranged and documented with different media devices. The composition of the working teams, the selection of the objects and the “test arrangements“ were arranged by chance. The emerging media based sequences were assembled to a video collage.

  5. On the occasion of the International Exchange Meeting of the mix@ges project in Vienna in November 2012, 61 young and older people from Slovenia, Austria, Belgium, Germany and Scotland, their media trainers, artists and the workshops‘ facilitators exchanged their creative media arts experiences and learned about exciting artistic approaches towards the digital world.

This video was created jointly by young and older participants at mumok (Museum for contemporary Art) during a hands-on workshop with artist Erik Hable and art educator Martina Berger-Klingler from Museum der Moderne Salzburg, using a special self-designed video programme to create visual performances.

This is the vimeo Channel of the mix@ges project. mix@ges invites young people (14 – 20) and older people (50+) to create innovative media products, under the guidance and support of professional artists and media trainers, such as iPod movies, audio guides for a museum, video blogs on exhibitions, tagtool performances and digital photographs.

The results and products of the workshops are showcased on http://www.mixages.eu. The participants and their trainers exchanged their experiences at an international exchange meeting in November 2012 in Vienna and present and discuss their work with experts and stakeholders at the International Encounter with Generations, the Arts and the Media in Ljubljana on 16 May 2013.

As a central outcome of the partnership, a handbook will be published in May 2013 that will inspire media educators, trainers, artists and practitioners, and transfer knowledge to stakeholders and other interested in the intergenerational dialogue.
