The Bulli Hospital Emergency Department is an essentail service that is much needed in the Illawarra but is being downgraded and hours reduced. This service is a life saving service that we need open 24/7. The community has been fighting closures and downgrades at this hospital for years. We need to change the political will to something more positive and get this service upgraded for the expanding population of the change.org/petitions/keep-bulli-emergency-department-open-as-a-level-2-ed-24-7
Illawarra. The community do not accept the present downgrade of this service to a GP clinic running 7-10 daily. Attendances at emergency departments are rising by over 6% every year-so it makes no sense to close or reduce hours at Bulli ED. While we still have a health service complex at Bulli there is NO reason not to have our level 2 Emergency Department at the complex running 24/7. NSW Health are responsible for emergency health service provision across NSW - make them accountable for providing appropriate emergency services where and when they are needed in line with real community need. Ask 73,000 residents of the northern Illawarra and they all agree - we need a 24/7 level 2 ED at Bulli.
